The Beer Store Response to COVID-19


TORONTO, March 13, 2020 /CNW/ - We at the The Beer Store are committed to safe practices and protecting the health and safety of our employees and customers. Health and safety is a fundamental part of our business at The Beer Store and is the foundation of our values as an organization.

Store standards, hygiene and safety procedures have and will continue to be practiced diligently. All store employees have been trained to uphold and practice our health and safety procedures. With continued education and awareness and the use of protective devices, we are adhering to practices that minimize risk.

We are prepared to navigate the unfolding situation with everyone's safety in mind. We are guided by key organizational personnel, external agencies to effectively manage the situation around COVID-19. We will continue communication with our workers, managers, including our joint Health & Safety Committees by keeping our employees and customers' health and safety a priority.

Currently, our stores remain open for business, however it's important that our customers be made aware of our procedures and commitment to health and safety, therefore we will provide further updates as required.

About the Beer Store
The Beer Store offers customers over 800 brands, provided by 190 brewers. It is a completely open system that allows any brewer in the world to sell its brands in any Beer Store location it chooses, at prices determined by it and approved by the LCBO. The Beer Store is deeply committed to responsible sale by not selling to minors and people who are intoxicated. In 2015, more than 3.7 million customers were challenged to confirm their age or sobriety. It is also one of the greenest retailers in the world collecting around 1.6 billion beer containers (an 88 per cent return rate) and 349 million wine and spirit containers (a 78 per cent return rate) in 2016. The Beer Store is owned by 33 Ontario-based brewers and employs 7,000 hard-working Ontarians with well-paying full and part-time jobs.
