TORONTO, Jan. 16, 2020 /CNW/ - On January 22 at 12:21 p.m. at the Ontario Science Centre, 96-year-old Jean Moffet crosses an item off her bucket list: speaking to a crew member aboard the International Space Station. With assistance from ARISS Canada, Jean speaks to ISS Commander Luca Parmitano, a European Space Agency astronaut, by way of ham radio on a frequency that connects the Science Centre to the ISS via a telebridge amateur station in Northern Italy. A licensed ham radio operator herself, Jean has volunteered at the Ontario Science Centre's amateur radio station, VE3OSC, for more than 30 years, and shares her knowledge and passion with countless visitors.
