Mount Sacred Heart Community partners with Archdiocese of San Antonio as it seeks to raise funds to launch New International Formation Program

SAN ANTONIO, Nov. 15, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Mount Sacred Heart School community and the Archdiocese of San Antonio are renewing an effort to bring back a robust presence of religious Sisters in Catholic Schools through an innovative international formation program ? The Mother Cabrini Center at Mount Sacred Heart Catholic School.

Founded by the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in 1929, Mount Sacred Heart has become a part of the city's story and the lives of many San Antonians. As the Sisters at Mount Sacred Heart are departing from an administrative role at the school next spring, they and the school community are partnering with the Archdiocese of San Antonio to create a new model for Catholic Education and grow the school's legacy.

To secure this future, the Mount Sacred Heart community and the Archdiocese of San Antonio, in partnership, have launched a short-term capital campaign to raise pledges for $10 million. The funding raised will secure the future of Mount Sacred Heart and launch a new formation program where religious sisters from across the globe are recruited for an immersion experience in American Catholic education. Their presence at Mount Sacred Heart, eventually expanding to other Catholic schools within the archdiocese, will provide Mount students with a direct experience and understanding of other countries and cultures. Students will develop Mount Sacred Heart's core values of compassion, integrity, service and community in an international context, all while receiving a top-tier education and Catholic foundation. The ultimate goal is to form students who are well rounded, committed, and civically engaged by building on the legacy of Mount Sacred Heart Catholic School.

The community is invited to Mount Sacred Heart's Field Day event this Saturday, Nov. 16, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to learn more about the school community, bringing religious Sisters back to Catholic Schools and how they can support this effort.
