Tofurky Debuts Limited-Edition Ugly Christmas Sweaters to Celebrate Roast Anniversary

Tofurky, the leading independent producer of plant-based proteins in the U.S., today unveiled two limited-edition "ugly Christmas sweaters" to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its Tofurky Turk'y Roast, with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting the conservation nonprofit WildAid. In addition to protecting endangered species and their critical habitats, WildAid encourages lifestyle habits that fight climate change, including eating less meat, a significant focus of Tofurky's purpose before profits reinvestment initiative. Designed to spark conversation, make a point, and give back, a limited number of tongue-in-cheek holiday sweaters will be available for purchase online starting Dec. 3, in tandem with Giving Tuesday.

Can you imagine wearing a standout sweater that encourages people to "Say Yum" to plant-based eating or expresses best wishes for a merry and politically air-tight holiday this season? Tofurky's holiday sweaters will start a tradition that is good for our animal friends and good for the planet with two designs:

"For Tofurky, nothing captures the holiday spirit quite like a festive party with family and friends, tasty food and funny holiday sweaters," said Jaime Athos, president and CEO of Tofurky. "We already had the delicious plant-based holiday foods covered?so, in keeping with the fun-loving and purpose driven nature of the brand, we've designed two holiday sweaters that we think will continue our tradition of inspiring eyerolls and open-mindedness at the dinner table, while benefiting WildAid's sustainable work."

Twenty-five years ago, when Tofurky debuted its plant based Tofurky Turk'y Roast for the first time, the brand quickly assumed a good-humored tongue-in-cheek voice as a meat heavy nation poked fun at its tofu turkey alternative. Today, Tofurky hopes its good-natured limited-edition sweaters will bring joy to vegans, vegetarians, flexitarians, environmental activists and more nationwide while supporting a good cause and celebrating how far the plant-based industry and Tofurky Roast have come.

Tofurky holiday sweaters will be available for $34.99 at uglychristmassweater.com/tofurky. With 100 percent of proceeds benefiting WildAid, the total donation is expected to exceed $10,000. Tofurky is encouraging anyone who buys a funny sweater to share their super fashionable statement on social using #TofurkySweater.
