Brightview Senior Living tops Great Place to Work® and FORTUNE Best Workplaces for Aging Services 2019

BALTIMORE, Md., August 22, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Great Place to Work and FORTUNE have honored Brightview Senior Living as one of the 2019 Best Workplaces for Aging Services. The ranking considered feedback representing 223,183 employees working for Great Place to Work-Certified organizations in Senior Housing & Care and At-Home Care in the Aging Services industry. Brightview Senior Living ranked Number 1 in the Seniors Housing & Care category for large companies.

Great Place to Work, a global people analytics and consulting firm, evaluated more than 60 elements of team members' experience on the job. These included the extent to which employees trust leaders, respect with which people are treated, the fairness of workplace decisions, and how much camaraderie there is among the team. Rankings are based on employees' feedback and reward companies who best include all employees, no matter who they are or what they do for the organization.

"We put so much time and energy into being a great place to work," says President Doug Dollenberg. "It's really rewarding to have those efforts recognized by Fortune."

The foundation of Brightview's culture starts with a service mindset.

"A lot of competencies we can teach, but we can't teach compassion," says Senior Vice President Andrea Griesmar. "Our hiring process is designed to learn about those softer things first. It is difficult to pass over a candidate who has great job experience, but if they lack qualities such as a service mindset, we know that those people won't do well in our environment and won't stay long."

The Best Workplaces for Aging Services stand out for excelling in a competitive industry.

"A lot of companies talk about care and concern for their team, but it all comes down to execution: Are you able to walk the walk?" says Dollenberg. "If we can continue to make our associates feel engaged, happy, and passionate, then we can continue to be a great place to work and a great place to live."

The special bond with residents is one of the reasons why associates choose Brightview.

"The value of creating great workplaces for all is a clear competitive edge in the Aging Services sector," said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. "When organizations like Brightview Senior Living treat their own people with care and respect, you can expect their staff to treat your loved ones with that same care."

The Best Workplaces for Aging Services is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work and FORTUNE based on employee feedback from Great Place to Work-Certifiedtm organizations. Brightview Senior Living also was ranked as Certified Great Place to Work by FORTUNE.
