Indegy Appoints Former Imperva Executive Juan Lara Global VP of Sales Engineering

Indegy, a leading provider of security solutions for industrial control system (ICS) and operational technology (OT) environments, announced today the appointment of Juan Lara as Global Vice President of Sales Engineering. Juan will present a session on the top security threats facing industrial organizations at this year's SCADA Tech Summit on August 28.

Only a few months ago, hackers launched a denial of service (DDoS) attack that impacted utility operations in densely populated areas across several states, including California, Utah and Wyoming. This month, Congress is mobilizing, passing cyber security legislation as Iran has reportedly joined Russia and China in launching cyber attacks against U.S. critical infrastructure and the electrical grid.

"Operational networks are in the cross-hairs of threats from nation-states as well as rogue individuals and groups that include ransomware, industrial malware and lie-in-wait reconnaissance activities," said Juan Lara. "Based on intelligence gathered by Indegy from defending utilities, energy, manufacturing and other industrial operations over the past four years, my SCADA Tech Summit talk will inform attendees on the top security risks they face and how to address them."

Juan has more than 18 years of IT security software sales engineering experience. He joined Indegy from enterprise data and application software vendor Imperva, which was acquired by Thoma Bravo for $2.1B in 2018, where he led sales engineering. He has also held sales engineering roles with Aladdin Knowledge Systems and Appteks INC.

His SCADA Tech Summit session will cover complications associated with merging IT and OT infrastructures, how the increased usage of IIoT devices in previously air-gapped OT networks is creating new security challenges and attack vectors, and how operators can identify and remediate weak links and vulnerabilities in their SCADA environment.
