Christopher Skeete announces a consultation tour with a view to developing a governmental plan of action for English-speaking Quebecers

ÎLES-DE-LA-MADELEINE, QC, July 23, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - During a visit to the English-speaking community of Grosse-Île, Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Christopher Skeete, Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier for relations with English-speaking Quebecers, is announcing a consultation tour to take place this coming fall, for the purpose of developing a first governmental action plan for relations with English-speaking Quebecers.

The meeting between Mr. Skeete and representatives of the community, brought together by the Council for Anglophone Magdalen Islanders (CAMI), also marks the inauguration of several social and economic development initiatives implemented by the organization. The CAMI is also hosting a meeting of members of the Enhancing Regional Community Capacity project of the Community Health and Social Services Network. Participants will be able to discuss various issues and consider the diverse realities of English-speaking Quebecers. Most importantly, they will be able to propose measures that will make it possible for them to enjoy better quality services in their own language.

"My presence here confirms my interest in the regions and in the provision of services to English-speaking Quebecers wherever they live. The consultation tour will provide me with an opportunity to take note of the issues that they face. I strongly encourage the representatives of English-speaking communities to come out, express themselves and participate in this consultation tour this fall. It promises to be an enriching and awareness-building experience. It will be a time for co-creation, aiming to ensure that the concerns of English-speaking Quebecers are taken into account by the government."
