New Mariachi Butler Takes Group Events Up an Octave at Velas Vallarta

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico, July 15, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- We'd all like someone to sing our praises?and that can happen, literally, at Velas Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta, thanks to a new program that pairs the resort's legendary mariachi band with groups' on-property meetings and other corporate events.

Groups can now request a custom song from Velas Vallarta's Mariachi Butler Felipe Romero, who will compose and perform a song?along with his eight-member mariachi band. The song could include the group's name, Velas Vallarta, and any additional information the group submits and requests. (Profit reports, anyone?)

Groups will be delighted to watch the band, dressed in their traditional black charro suits and adorned jackets, perform mariachi with trumpets, violins, guitarróns, vihuelas, and guitars. Mariachi is a music deeply rooted in Mexican culture. It originated in the 18th century in Jalisco, the state in which Puerto Vallarta is located, and has been recognized an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO. While mariachi is its own musical genre, today, mariachi covers many other genres, including dance, classical, romance, and folk?any of which can, of course, be used for a group's customized tune.

For his part, Figueroa has deep roots in mariachi, too. He is the son of Felipe Romero Huerta, founder of the legendary mariachi "Los Pipianes," which performed from 1950 to 1982. Over his 65-year-long mariachi career, Figueroa has toured in Mexico, the United States, and Europe, and in 2008, he was honored by then-President Javier Bravo for his legacy and contribution to mariachi. (He's also been recognized in the greater musical community: he took part in multi-Grammy award winner Linda Ronstadt's first album of Mexican traditional Mariachi music, "Canciones De Mi Padre.") For the last 13 years, Figueroa has performed with his mariachi band?Mariachi Vallarta 2000, which he started with his son in 2000?365 days a year at Velas Vallarta resort.

Additionally for groups and guests alike, Velas Vallarta showcases Mexico's cultural customs with traditional arts and crafts workshops, including the prehispanic technique of Arte en Popotillo, and Mexican cuisine.

Customized mariachi songs start at $1,000. For reservations or more information, please call 1-888-407-4869 or visit http://www.velasvallarta.com.
