United Way Awards UPS and Wells Fargo for Commitment to Philanthropy
United Way Worldwide honored two global companies for their Corporate Social Responsibility work today, applauding their partnership and innovative efforts in building stronger communities.
United Way recognized UPS® with its new Gamechangers Award, and Wells Fargo with its new LIVE UNITED Award, at United Way's Community Leadership and Impact Conference in Toronto, before 1,000+ people.

The Gamechangers Award is given to the United Way partner who
is using an innovative, focused approach ? combining the assets of the
company, the empathy of their employees and more ? to fight some of
the toughest problems in today's world. Teri Plummer McClure, Chief
Human Resources Officer & SVP Labor & Employee Communications,
accepted the award on behalf of UPS.
UPS was recognized for its work on fighting human trafficking. The company, which has worked with United Way for more than 35 years, trains its drivers to spot human trafficking and alert the authorities. The United Way Center on Human Trafficking & Slavery has been working with UPS to train hundreds of community leaders across the country to spot and respond to human trafficking signs. Last year, UPS and its employees contributed $62 million to United Way, $1.3 million of which were direct contributions from employees towards United Way's anti-trafficking work. This support will allow United to Way to launch a Human Trafficking Impact Fund that will dramatically expand its work in local communities.

The LIVE UNITED Award is given to the United Way partner that
builds stronger communities across its corporate footprint, engages
its employees in meaningful ways, and helps them make a real
difference. Jon Campbell, EVP, Corporate Philanthropy & Community
Relations, accepted the award on behalf of Wells Fargo.
Wells Fargo was recognized for its broader work in helping to improve education, financial stability and health. Wells Fargo has been United Way's #1 workplace giving campaign for 10 consecutive years, fueling impact work that's making a difference in people's lives. For example, a Wells Fargo $5 million grant has helped more than 42,000 low- and moderate-income families meet with a financial coach. Of those, 32,500 met personal financial goals -- including increasing income, reducing debt, improving credit scores, increasing savings or improving debt-income ratio. And Wells Fargo team members in eight communities volunteer as financial coaches, and help promote the centers in low-income communities.
