Media Advisory - Microsoft partners with Mohawk Council of Kahnawá:ke to offer an ai workshop helping youth in underserved communities
KAHNAWÁ:KE, QC, April 25th, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada's digital economy is growing at an unprecedented rate and it is rapidly outpacing our skilled digital workforce. Without skilled digital workers to meet the demand, we risk leaving economic opportunity on the table and, in the long term, falling behind.
To meet this demand and give everyone in Canada the opportunity to thrive, Microsoft believes that ALL Canadians should be given the opportunity to learn STEM skills, particularly underserved communities.
Microsoft is partnering with the Mohawk Council of Kahnawá:ke to host an AI workshop for Indigenous youth ? to help learn the fundamentals of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, as well as introducing them to key concepts that will allow them to build their own machine learning model. The workshop will also welcome representatives from the CIRNA, the City of Montreal, First Nations and Indigenous Services.
Representatives from Microsoft, Mohawk Council of Kahnawá:ke, Forest Green and Canada Learning Code will be available to discuss the initiative.
