The Government of Canada supports cultural events in the Saint-Hyacinthe Region

SAINT-HYACINTHE, QC, April 25, 2019 /CNW/ - The Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism, announced today that four cultural events in the Saint-Hyacinthe region of Montérégie will receive $75,300 in funding.

The assistance will be provided through the Local Festivals component of the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program, which specifically aims to support the 2019 programming for these four gatherings:

With this funding, the Government of Canada recognizes the important role these gatherings play in showcasing the importance of local artists, cultural organizations and heritage.

Quick Facts

The 182nd edition of the St-Hyacinthe Expo, taking place from July 18 to 27, 2019, will bring urban and rural citizens together through musical performances, handicraft demonstrations and interpretive demonstrations of historic farm equipment.

The 15th edition of the Chants de Vielles, a traditional, folk and acoustic song festival, will take place June 27-30, 2019 in the heritage village of Saint-Antoine-sur-Richelieu. This festive musical gathering is open to all and provides a showcase for acoustic music.

The 9th annual Acton Vale Country Retro Festival will take place July10-14, 2019. Festival programming includes country, retro and folk music performances.

The 11th annual Accordion and Quebec Folklore Festival took place in St-Marcel-de-Richelieu from April 13-14, 2019. This event brings together accordion, violin and harmonica performers as well as music connoisseurs and professionals.

The Local Festivals component of the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program provides financial assistance to local groups that organize festivals and highlight the work of local artists and artisans or support local heritage interpreters.
