Flooding Risks in Some Areas of Rosemère - The Town Is In Action Mode


ROSEMÈRE, QC, April 18, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - With the heavy rainfall forecast in the coming days in addition to the melting snow, some parts of Rosemère (mainly south of Grande-Côte Road) may be impacted by flooding. "I would like to assure our residents that the Town's employees, as well as police and firefighters, have been deployed to ensure continuous monitoring of the areas potentially affected by the flooding, and that the utmost is being done to help the Rosemerites affected by this situation," stated Eric Westram, Mayor of Rosemère.

Pallets of sandbags have been placed in the following critical areas:

Place Ducharme (near the bridge)
Val Chenaie
Thorncliff West
Île Bélair East
Earlscourt
Skelton (corner Alexandre and Béland)
Terrasse Cadieux

Public Works employees have also been working to raise the dike near Louis-Hémon Street and are working on Île Bélair Street East.

Residents may contact the Public Works Department directly for any questions regarding flooding (sandbags, etc.) at 450 621-3500, ext. 3300. For emergency calls, residents must phone 911.

Residents concerned are urged to take certain preventive measures to ensure their safety and limit material damage:

The Town would like to remind Rosemerites that it is their responsibility to make sure that they do whatever is necessary to protect their belongings.

The Town will keep residents informed of the situation through the various communication platforms, including its website, Facebook page and Publ-e-mail.
