Alzheimer Society of Ontario applauds new Investments in community care
Budget 2019 includes $20 million in new funding for community support services
TORONTO, April 11, 2019 /CNW/ -"Protecting What Matters Most," the provincial government's 2019 budget, includes welcome investments in front-line community care. In total, $267 million in new funding was announced, including $124 million to expand home and community care, $20 million for community support services and $123 million for other community-focused health programs.
"We believe the government is on the right track to help people live better and healthier lives," said Cathy Barrick, CEO at the Alzheimer Society of Ontario, as quoted in the budget document. "Community supports are a vital part of our healthcare system and the Alzheimer Society welcomes this much-needed investment."
The budget also includes renewed commitments to improve healthcare. The Alzheimer Society is particularly pleased to see a focus on cutting wait times and ending hallway healthcare.
