New Line Cinema / DC's Shazam! Supercharges Ontario's Economy, Spending Over $55M on Production


TORONTO, ON, April 05, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Economic data released today shows how a motion picture like New Line / DC's Shazam! can electrify the Ontario economy. The production spent more than $55 million while filming in the GTA.

Shazam!  is the origin story of DC Comics character, Billy Batson, a streetwise 14-year-old foster kid turned adult superhero Shazam!. The production spent more than $23.9 million on local goods and services at over 750 Ontario businesses. Production spending included:

The production created jobs for 3,457 local cast and crew, and spent more than $31.3 million on Ontario labour. In total, the production jolted Ontario's economy with $55 million in spending.
