Red Rocks Global Listed Private Equity (GLPE) Index Retreats in Q4-2018 as Volatility Overshadows Healthy Private Company Growth

Red Rocks Capital announced today that its Global Listed Private Equity (GLPE) Index retreated during the fourth quarter of 2018, down 18.66%, during what was a highly volatile global market environment.

Public market sentiment, global trade issues, a strong US dollar, BREXIT and weak European growth were some of the factors that overshadowed healthy organic growth in private companies across the GLPE Index.

"Very few asset classes were unaffected by the global market volatility in the fourth quarter of 2018," said Richard Baker, Red Rocks GLPE Index Product Manager. "While the GLPE Index underperformed broader equities, private companies owned by listed private equity firms continued to show strong fundamentals and healthy organic growth, creating favorable valuations in the sector."
