Stand Together Announces Series of Investments During National Poverty Awareness Month

ARLINGTON, Va., Jan. 8, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Stand Together today announced a series of social change investments to be made throughout January, National Poverty Awareness Month, and expected to total between $10-15 million. Investments will be made in each of Stand Together's six social change portfolios and announced over the course of the month.

"National Poverty Awareness Month represents an opportunity to connect the American people to the 40+ million Americans living in poverty and the 18 million living in persistent poverty. Our goal is awareness of not just the problems of poverty but also demonstrating that transformation is possible and where to look for it," said Evan Feinberg, executive director of Stand Together. "Giving our partners more financial resources to expand their work is critically important, but it's about more than money. Stand Together is proud to offer business training through a proven management philosophy and connections to passionate investors and partners around the country.

"If we want to give the millions of Americans trapped in poverty a path toward success, we must find, support and supercharge the men and women on the ground doing the work to help their neighbors on that journey."

Stand Together partners with community-based organizations helping people break through significant barriers and improve their lives across six issue-related portfolios: Addiction & Mental Health, Financial Empowerment & Entrepreneurship, Housing & Homelessness, In-Prison, Re-Entry & Second Chances, Workforce Development and Youth & Education. Stand Together's financial support will benefit organizations in all six portfolios and enable them to execute specific plans for expansion developed in partnership with Stand Together.
