Questrade invests in kindness with donation to Food Banks Canada

TORONTO, Dec. 14, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In the spirit of the season, Questrade has announced a donation of the equivalent of 250,000 meals to Food Banks Canada on behalf of Questrade customers and employees, as part of its annual campaign to help Canadian families in need across the country.

Beginning in 2019, Questrade is launching a new program, where it will donate the equivalent of three meals (a day of meals) to Food Banks Canada for every new account opened.

"While continuing our annual seasonal tradition, we recognize that many Canadians need help to meet their basic daily needs all year," explains Edward Kholodenko, president and CEO, Questrade. "We strongly believe in supporting our fellow citizens, neighbours and friends and upholding our mission to improve the lives of Canadians.  We're fortunate to be able to support those who turn to a food bank each month in our community, many of whom are children, which is why we are also increasing our support year round. There is no more important investment than the one we make in one another."

"Questrade has been a wonderful partner of ours for the past three years, helping to provide meals to Canadians struggling with hunger," says Chris Hatch, CEO, Food Banks Canada.  "We're pleased to deepen our relationship into 2019 with this new commitment.  Food security is an ongoing, year-round issue and we appreciate Questrade's foresight to help Canadians beyond the traditional giving season."

Every month, 860,000 Canadians need the help of a food bank and one third of those are children.  As a proudly Canadian company with a longstanding commitment to philanthropy, Questrade understands the attention this merits and has chosen to embody the greatest value of its home country -- caring for one another -- with the announcement of its new initiative for 2019.

Questrade encourages Canadians to join them in donating to their local food bank at www.foodbankscanada.ca.
