Crowley Selected to Distribute Zeutschel ScanStudio In U.S., Canada, U.K. and Caribbean

FREDERICK, Md., Dec. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Matt McCabe, vice president of sales and marketing for The Crowley Company, a leading worldwide provider of production scanners and commercial digitization services, announces the addition of the German-engineered Zeutschel ScanStudio reprographic system to its international distribution lines as well as all Zeutschel products to its U.K. network. The ScanStudio combines Zeutschel's industry-leading capture technology and software with a modular scan bed and PhaseOne's 100- and 50-megapixel (MP) digital back camera.

Benefitting large-scale institutions with transparent and opaque media archive collections of cultural or historical significance, the ScanStudio utilizes a tall scanning base with a movable high-resolution camera, adjustable lighting and interchangeable copyboard modules and lenses to provide a studio-like capture environment in a contained, all-in-one system.

McCabe states, "Museums, libraries, archives and similar organizations with large, diverse collections need technology that is going to streamline and enhance their capture efforts. An all-in-one system that can tackle graphic arts, negatives, books and rare or fragile mixed document capture has the potential to transform any digitization department. That's the ScanStudio." The ScanStudio can digitize a variety of materials up to 9000 dpi resolution, including:

The ScanStudio is available in two models: A1 (23.4 x 33.1 in. /549 x 841 mm scan area) and A2 (16.5 x 23.4 in. /420 x 596 mm scan area). Both operate via Zeutschel's popular Omniscan software for extensive capture, automation, editing and output options. Zeutschel's acclaimed PerfectBook software is also included for refined bound-material capture.

Compliant with All Major Imaging Guidelines

Guideline-specific scanning is an increasingly important element in cultural heritage preservation. High-level institutions across the world use standardized capture measurements to create the most accurate and consistent digital copies of their original materials. Globally recognized standards such as Federal Agencies Digital Guidelines Initiative (FADGI)*, Metamorfoze** and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 19624-1 *** are now becoming the mainstream guidelines for many more organizations. The ScanStudio has proven to reach high rankings on each of these guidelines, including a FADGI 4-star ranking.

Institutions such as Cornell University (U.S.), the National Digital Archive (NDA) of Poland and FotoHub(Singapore) are a few examples of organizations with which the ScanStudio has been successfully implemented into their archival preservation digitization practices.

President of Zeutschel GmbH, Joerg Vogler, notes, "In an industry that is constantly changing, it is vital to provide not only the best technology but also the most adaptable solutions to meet client challenges. It has been a natural evolution to place Zeutschel capture expertise in a contained studio setting to serve those with diverse reprographic collections. Crowley has represented Zeutschel for nearly four decades; it makes sense to expand their territory into the UK."

Adds McCabe, "In North America, we've been the exclusive or preferred Zeutschel distributor for nearly 35 years. This is a strong testament to both our working relationship and our mutual commitment to customers. If the best is out there, Crowley wants to provide it. We think the market will find the ScanStudio flexibility and advanced image quality an excellent overall value because of its adaptability to multiple media types."

He continues, "In addition to the ScanStudio, we're pleased to now carry all Zeutschel products in the United Kingdom. We've had a physical presence in the UK for nearly a decade following our acquisition of Wicks and Wilson. Our presence abroad is growing and representing Zeutschel will allow us to offer our current and future clients a broader line of digitization solutions."
