Statement from Marc-André Fabien, President, Canadian Paralympic Committee:

"While we are disappointed with the results of the plebiscite, we are pleased the people of Calgary had the opportunity to share their voice and we respect their opinion.

Throughout this process, we have heard from many Canadians who were energized by the possibility of hosting another Olympic and Paralympic Games. It brought pride and belief that Canada could once again welcome the world's best athletes. A home Games would have united the nation from coast to coast as our incredible athletes showed all Canadians what is possible through sport.

We know so many people have spent countless hours preparing for this bid. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed and are well appreciated by our community. Thank you for your hard work and dedication."
