TORONTO, Oct. 22, 2018 /CNW/ - This year, the hardest thing about voting in Ward 18 is that there are 18 people to choose from.
The incumbent John Filion has held the seat for 28 years and local city elections are generally about name recognition. Splitting the smaller votes between 17 candidates is actually a good thing for John, with exception of one prominent candidate.
Danny DeSantis is an exceptional entrepreneur with a strong work ethic. Danny has been knocking on doors every single day for the last four months. This has been a massive undertaking that is paying off because Danny is now getting some name recognition too. "People are stopping me on the streets saying: "Hey, you are Danny DeSantis! ...I heard about you." and they ask me to take selfies with them," said Danny.
But can four months of canvassing surpass name recognition of 28 years in office? Not likely if you allow the smaller votes to split between 17 people.
Regardless of what you may read in the Toronto election polls, make no mistake about it, today is going to be a very tight race between John Filion and Danny DeSantis. Do you really want John Filion to control Willowdale for another 4 years?
If you support anyone other than Danny DeSantis or John Filion then the question is:
Do you give a few extra votes to "your own" candidate and get John Filion re-elected by splitting the smaller votes between 17 candidates? OR do you vote for Danny DeSantis who is likely the best candidate to beat John Filion?
Danny DeSantis is the best replacement for John Filion because of Danny's incredible work ethic, his strong fiscal responsibility, and his ability to negotiate and win for all people of Willowdale.
If you want a real change then casting a vote for Danny DeSantis is casting a NO vote to John Filion.
