Midterm Elections 2018: New Experts and Events Resource Guide for Journalists


WASHINGTON, Oct. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- In advance of the 2018 midterm elections, American University has launched a new online guide that features resources for members of the media who seek to interview experts and attend events to inform their reporting.

The new online resource guide for news reporters and editors features American University experts who can comment on a broad range of topics related to the November elections. Topics that AU experts can address include: voter turnout and voter behavior, campaigns and elections, women in politics, issues of diversity, lobbying and interest groups, and many others.

Among featured experts are prominent scholars and commentators including David Barker, director of AU's Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies; Capri Cafaro, executive-in-residence at AU's School of Public Affairs and former Democratic leader of the Ohio State Senate; Laura Denardis, professor at the School of Communication and faculty director of the Internet Governance Lab; Betsy Fischer Martin, executive director at AU's Women & Politics Institute; Allan Lichtman, distinguished professor of history and author of The Embattled Vote in America; Ibram X. Kendi, professor of history and international affairs, an award-winning scholar of racism and antiracism and a New York Times best-selling author; Anita McBride, executive-in-residence and former assistant to President George W. The guide lists AU experts by name and categories and features professors' recent media appearances and publications. It also provides information about elections-related events open to news media that will be happening on AU's campus through November.
