CAPC Statement of Support for United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement

OTTAWA, Oct. 11, 2018 /CNW/ - Don Walker, CEO of Magna International and Canadian Automotive Partnership Council (CAPC) Chairman: "On behalf of CAPC, we applaud the efforts of the US, Mexico and Canada for their commitment to work together and modernize the original NAFTA agreement. Specifically noteworthy is how Chrystia Freeland demonstrated extraordinary leadership for Canada's negotiating team in what were perhaps the most challenging economic discussions to date. As a result, we believe the new USMCA tentative agreement has the potential to offer stability and competitiveness to all three countries and the automotive industry."

Background

The Canadian Automotive Partnership Council (CAPC) is an industry-led organization whose mandate is to address the key competitiveness issues facing the Canadian automotive industry. Membership comprises the CEOs of Canada's five automotive assemblers, CEOs of Canada's leading parts suppliers, representatives from labour, academia, and aftermarket and dealer associations, as well as federal, Ontario and Quebec industry ministers.
