MASHPEE, Mass., Dec. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- New England Sports Network (NESN) will premiere a new 30- minute special featuring 7-time Cy Young winner and Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame pitcher Roger Clemens and Red Sox historian/NESN contributor Gordon Edes on Monday, December 11th at 7:30pm EST.
Selected as the 2017 Willowbend Honoree, Clemens sat down on his 55th birthday for a uniquely candid interview with Edes before a live audience of 200 guests at the famed Cape Cod club community.
Throughout the program, Clemens shares rare, behind-the-scenes stories of his illustrious 24-year career, including his record-breaking 20-strike-out game at Fenway (and why it almost did not happen), the unusual batting record he still holds with the Red Sox, and the Clemens pitch that Sox legend Ted Williams was sure he could hit.
"Gordon asked great questions and I really enjoyed our talk," Clemens said. "I felt totally comfortable and welcomed by the Willowbend community and hope fans enjoy the show."
"I was surprised by how open, self-deprecating and truly funny Roger was during our conversation," said NESN contributor Gordon Edes. "Red Sox fans will see a side of Clemens they've never seen before."
A generous and big-hearted man, Clemens is a longtime friend of Willowbend and Southworth Development and a Willowbend member. Clemens joined the ranks of fellow sports legends Bobby Orr and Jack Nicklaus in being honored and immortalized on a bronze plaque which will perpetually be on display in the Willowbend "Honoree Courtyard." The honor commemorates his many achievements on and off the field, including his charitable work on behalf of sick and underprivileged children.
Viewers have two chances to tune in and see the intimate fireside chat with baseball legend Roger "The Rocket" Clemens and Red Sox Team Historian Gordon Edes on NESN ? Monday, December 11th at 7:30pm EST and Thursday, December 13th at 3:00pm EST. The program will also be available on the NESNgo live stream app during each broadcast.
