Richard Stoff to retire as Ohio Business Roundtable president

COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 5, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Marathon Petroleum CEO and the Chairman of the Ohio Business Roundtable Executive Committee, Gary R. Heminger, announced today that the Roundtable's President, Richard A. Stoff, will retire at the end of this year.

Richard A. Stoff

Stoff, 68, was a founder of the Roundtable and its only president in its 25-year history.

"For 25 years, we have benefited from Richard's talent, vision and leadership," said Heminger. "Richard has demonstrated the ability to analyze important challenges, tap resources that lead to solutions, and engage all of our members in meaningful ways. He has been instrumental in establishing the Roundtable as a catalyst for change that improves our state's competitiveness, and as we continue our important work, we thank him for his dedication and wish him all the best in the years ahead."

Heminger said the Roundtable has engaged the international search firm of Heidrick & Struggles to ensure a successful transition to a new president.

Stoff helped establish the Roundtable after serving as a partner in the management consulting practice of Ernst & Young. He brought that experience to the fact-based advocacy and project management that have helped drive the Roundtable's success.

"The public-private partnerships fostered by some 400 Roundtable CEOs, spanning the terms of four governors, have strengthened Ohio as a place where our citizens can live, learn, prosper and pursue their dreams," Stoff said. "I am especially proud of the landmark work we accomplished on key business-climate issues like tax reform, workers' compensation and tort reform, as well as health care policy, science and technology and energy. Education reform, early learning and workforce competitiveness must always be at the top of the Roundtable's agenda because they are foundational to civil society."

Stoff said he intends to maintain several board roles, both statewide and nationally, and work on poverty issues confronting our state. He also will write and teach at the graduate level with a focus on the nexus between business and public policy. He and his wife, Carol, plan to spend quality time both in Ohio and abroad in Jerusalem with their children and granddaughter.
