Tufts Health Plan Employees Demonstrate Their Commitment To The Community At Ninth Annual Volunteer Day
WATERTOWN, Mass., June 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Tufts Health Plan employees are participating in their ninth annual Volunteer Day today, fanning out across Eastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire, helping community organizations with projects ranging from preparing meals for local homeless shelters to providing safer access to the water for athletes with disabilities.
"The employees in our organization are extraordinary -- they believe very strongly in our mission and demonstrate their commitment to improving the lives of our members and our community each and every day," said Tom Croswell, Tufts Health Plan president and CEO. "Our mission is to improve the health and wellness of the diverse communities we serve. I can think of no better example of this than our annual Volunteer Day."
More than 500 Tufts Health Plan employees are signed up to volunteer this year, the organization's biggest turn out to date. Employees will complete more than 1,400 service hours, valued at $41,832 in total hours spent in community. Last year, employees volunteered more than 6,000 hours in community.
"Year after year, we continue to break our own records for volunteerism. Employees embrace the opportunity to give back to the communities where they live and work. We care about community. It's a core value for Tufts Health Plan," said Nora Moreno Cargie, vice president for corporate citizenship and president of Tufts Health Plan Foundation.
