Nearly $167 Million in PA Lottery Scratch-Offs Prizes Won in May

MIDDLETOWN, Pa., June 5, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Lottery scratch-offs players claimed nearly $167 million in prizes during May, including two prizes of $3 million claimed by players in Northampton and York counties. Both of those wins were on the $3 Million Spectacular scratch-off game.

Other notable scratch-offs prizes claimed during May included a $1 million prize; seven prizes of $300,000; one $250,000 prize; and 17 prizes of $100,000.

Winner lists for all games are posted monthly in the Winners section of palottery.com. The lists include all winners of $1,000 or more, although many prizes below that threshold were won.

Current scratch-off games offer prizes ranging from a free ticket to $3 million. Scratch-offs winners claimed a record of more than $1.9 billion in prizes last fiscal year.

Before purchasing any game, players should review and understand the rules, prizes remaining and specific chances of winning found at palottery.com. The overall chances of winning any prize vary by game and are printed on the back of each scratch-off ticket. Overall chances are expressed across all tickets produced in a game and not by tickets sold per pack.

Chances of winning are not influenced by where a ticket is sold. Random distribution of tickets ensures the Pennsylvania Lottery and its retailers do not know where winning tickets will be sold. Scratch-offs prizes must be claimed within one year of a game's posted end-sale date.
