Department of Aging Secretary Osborne Honors Centenarians at Kleinlife Senior Center

PHILADELPHIA, May 4, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Pennsylvania Department of Aging Secretary Teresa Osborne participated in the Northeast Philadelphia Centenarian Luncheon hosted by Kleinlife, Northeast Philadelphia, to honor centenarians.

During the event, 18 centenarians were joined by friends, family, and community leaders in recognition of their incredible gift of longevity in reaching 100 years of age or older.

"On behalf of Governor Wolf, and the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, it is humbling to pause during Older Americans Month to recognize centenarians living in Pennsylvania," Secretary Osborne said. "These incredible women and men are role models for how to live long and age well in Northeast Philadelphia and anywhere in the state."

Each May, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Community Living (ACL) leads the nation's celebration of Older Americans Month. ACL designed the 2017 OAM theme, Age Out Loud, to give aging a new voice?one that reflects what today's older adults have to say.

"Throughout Pennsylvania, we are blessed to have these remarkable treasures ? older Pennsylvanians who have lived 100 or more years," said Secretary Osborne. "Their lifelong achievements are a true representation of aging out loud, and the Wolf Administration is committed to continue providing opportunities for our seniors to age in place with the dignity and respect they deserve."
