2019 Cybersecurity Almanac Published By Cisco And Cybersecurity Ventures

NORTHPORT, N.Y., Feb. 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Cisco Security and Cybersecurity Ventures announced the 2019 Cybersecurity Almanac, a handbook containing the most pertinent information for tracking cybercrime and the global cybersecurity market.

Cybersecurity Ventures predicts that cybercrime damages will cost the world $6 trillion annually by 2021, up from $3 trillion in 2015.

"Over the past fifty-plus years, the world's attack surface has evolved from phone systems to so many digitally connected 'things' that it's outpacing our ability to properly secure them," says Steve Morgan, founder and Editor-in-Chief at Cybersecurity Ventures, and author of the 2019 Cybersecurity Almanac.

According to the latest Cisco Visual Networking Index (VNI), by 2022, more IP traffic will cross global networks than in all prior "Internet years." In other words, more traffic will be created in 2022 than in the 32 years since the Internet started. Increased connectivity brings both opportunities and new challenges for security professionals.

The Cybersecurity Almanac is a narrative of the cyber threat to humanity, the cybersecurity economy, and the progress being made by the cybersecurity industry - told with compelling facts, figures, predictions, and statistics compiled and curated by Cisco and Cybersecurity Ventures. The Almanac is a free resource for media, analysts, investors and anyone researching, speaking or writing on this dynamic market.
