Apple Montessori Kindergarten Students Score Two Grade Levels Ahead

HOBOKEN, N.J., Feb. 15, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Apple Montessori Schools announced the results of the 2018 Terra Nova testing of Apple kindergarten students. The students scored two years above their grade level in reading, language and math (on average), with some scoring higher than a 4th grade level.* The test is a nation-wide exam that compares students to their peers throughout the country in areas such as Reading, Analyzing Text, Oral Comprehension, Reading Comprehension, Arithmetic, and Critical Thinking Skills.

Kindergartners at Apple Montessori's Cliffside Park, Edgewater, Edison, Hoboken, Kinnelon, Mahwah, Metuchen, Morris Plains, Oakland, Randolph, Towaco and Wayne locations took the Terra Nova test.

"We are extremely proud of our students' success and their passion for learning," said Joanne Mooney, President of Apple Montessori Schools. "Our Montessori Plus approach gives students an edge academically, socially and emotionally, setting the foundation for success both inside and outside the classroom."

Apple Montessori recognizes standardized testing as an additional practical life exercise that allows children to practice a variety of skills. Test taking skills translate to visual tracking, process of elimination and oral comprehension skill, just to name a few. In addition, early test taking can assist in reducing test anxiety.

With the guidance of knowledgeable and nurturing teachers, Apple students follow their own passions at their own pace, gaining confidence until mastery. This "hands-on" approach brings abstract concepts to life, and students gain a deep and lasting love of learning. With Apple's unique phonics program, most students read by age 4. Working with advanced Montessori materials, students develop a strong foundation in math, geography, science and other subjects. The school's Montessori Plus approach goes above and beyond what traditional Montessori offer through technology, second language studies, art and music enrichment and character development.

By making the most of the critical early learning years, Apple Montessori students are well-prepared for the next stage of their education. Many go on to attend prestigious secondary schools such as The Blair Academy, Kent Place, Montclair Kimberly Academy, Morristown Beard School, Stevens Cooperative and Villa Walsh and experience success in top-ranking Universities such as Harvard, Cornell, New York University, and Berkeley College of Music to name just a few.
