Former CIA Acting Inspector General Joins Next Phase Solutions as Managing Director of Federal Practice

WASHINGTON, Jan. 14, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Next Phase Solutions (NPS), a leader in content and data management services, announced today that Christopher R. Sharpley, former Acting Inspector General of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), has joined its team as Managing Director of Federal Practice. In this role, Sharpley will shape initiatives that provide federal agencies with solutions to data and process challenges, including: improving management of enterprise and mission functions, centralizing content, integrating existing systems to streamline operations and ensuring compliance. Drawing upon decades of experience as a federal executive and innovator who has built award-winning compliance programs in defense, intelligence, energy and financial services, Sharpley has first-hand experience with the "how to" when it comes to addressing the mission critical challenges presented to managers in the federal workspace.

Sharpley served four years as Acting Inspector General at CIA and was nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as Inspector General. He was awarded a Presidential Rank Award for Meritorious Service in 2010 by then President Barack Obama. He departed CIA in August of 2018.

"Next Phase Solutions provides federal managers scalable solutions, both classified and unclassified, to address today's content and data management challenges whether large or small," said Sharpley. "I'm excited to have the opportunity to assist managers with building new data-intensive missions, strengthening security and broadening capabilities with existing mission enterprise data, and to do more with less in an environment of increasing requirements, evolving threats and shrinking budgets."

Next Phase Solution works with customers to identify gaps in business processes, increase compliance and improve efficiency utilizing OnBase by Hyland software and is on GSA Schedule 70. With capabilities including content, data and document management, OnBase is a robust tool that is easily configured out of the box to provide workflow and data management with security and auditability as key tenets. With the addition of Sharpley to the team, Next Phase Solution's strategic goal of providing rapid deployments to Federal agency clients in need of improved compliance, process automation and/or data analytics is greatly strengthened, which allows Federal agencies to meet regulatory changes and maintain the confidence of the public.

Prior to his nomination as Inspector General, Sharpley served as Deputy Inspector General at CIA, the Federal Housing Finance Agency, the U.S. Treasury's Special Inspector General for Troubled Asset Relief Program and the U.S. Department of Energy. He retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserves in 2002, having served last as Director of Special Projects (Reserves) with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI), in support of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition. Sharpley held positions as a Senior Intelligence Officer (SIS), a member of the federal law enforcement Senior Executive Service (SES) and a certified special agent. He is trained in intelligence, counterintelligence and anti-terrorism, and attended the Defense Language Institute in Japanese language studies. Sharpley received his master's from the Naval Postgraduate School, where he studied National Security Affairs, and a bachelor's from The American University, with a focus on justice. He is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute (FEI) and attended Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government Senior Programs.

New and changing regulations, data silos and the drive to make data and information available quickly within and across agencies requires the Federal Government to have reliable solutions to meet those demands," said David Godiksen, President of Next Phase Solutions. "With Christopher's previous leadership and process improvement experience, he will bring significant value to NPS customers while also leading a team of industry experts to provide unmatched solutions in the federal market."

Sharpley's broad experience and successful record of taking on new and challenging federal missions has earned him the respect of federal managers across government and the Congress. He is recognized for his work in developing effective financial investigative and intelligence programs and for implementing prosecutorial support processes associated with banking and securities fraud during the financial crisis of 2008 - 2010. Sharpley was also recognized for his successes in identifying and recommending fixes to security related issues associated with the nation's nuclear weapons complex system of national laboratories at the Department of Energy following the terror attacks of 2001. He was a member of the U.S. Department of Justice's White-Collar Crimes, Securities and Mortgage Fraud Working Groups and was a visiting faculty at Justice's National Advocacy Center.
