NCRP announces inaugural 2019 Impact Awards Selection Committee

WASHINGTON, Dec. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy (NCRP) announced today the Selection Committee for the 2019 NCRP Impact Awards, which will take place at the CHANGE Philanthropy Unity Summit in November 2019 in Seattle.

New process for choosing winners

NCRP has recruited a Selections Committee to choose 4 bold winners for next year's awards. The distinguished members of the inaugural 2019 committee, including 2 co-chairs, are:

NCRP Vice President and Chief Engagement Officer Jeanné Isler and Senior Associate for Learning and Engagement Caitlin Duffy will serve as staff representatives on the committee. Visit NCRP's website for information on the committee members, including bios.

More grantmakers will be eligible for an award in 2019

In addition to a new Selections Committee, 2019 will also be the 1st year donor networks and funder collaboratives are eligible to win NCRP Impact Awards.

NCRP made this change in response to inquiries in 2017 and to better reflect the diversity of giving in the sector.

Recognizing exemplary work in support of social movements

Members of the committee will honor awardees in the following 4 award categories:

These categories, which debuted at the 2017 edition of the Impact Awards, reflect positive changes in philanthropy, with more funders seriously considering how to fund social justice movements, leveraging their own power for systemic change, and sharing decision-making and governance with marginalized communities.

2018: A year of retrospection

Next year will be the 6th time NCRP has held the Impact Awards, following a 1-year break. Instead of hosting a ceremony in 2018, NCRP examined how its Impact Awards program can better recognize the most forward-thinking and effective practices in the sector.

During this reflection period, Isler interviewed a number of past winners about how their work has evolved since they won an Impact Award. Read this retrospective series on PhilanTopic featuring Hill-Snowdon Foundation, Liberty Hill Foundation, NoVo Foundation and Woods Fund Chicago.

A new opportunity to be a part of the 2019 Impact Awards

In preparation for the event, NCRP is inviting members of its community to serve as Impact Ambassadors. Contributions could include blog posts, social media outreach, sign-in table support during the reception, event sponsorship tips and more.
