Media Advisory - Managing mental health over the holidays

TORONTO, Dec. 11, 2018 /CNW/ - The holiday season can be a stressful time.  Whether it's anxiety at a time when there are more social gatherings, or dealing with job loss or income insecurity during the gift-giving season, or  the first holiday after the passing of a loved one or other traumatic events, this can be a challenging time of year for people with or without lived experience of mental illness.

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health has a variety of experts available this month for interviews on a range of topics.

• An expert on suicidal ideation and lead author of a recently published clinical guidebook for suicide prevention in the military

Dr. Judith Laposa, Clinician Scientist and Psychologist, Mood and Anxiety Division

• Areas of expertise include social anxiety, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder and agoraphobia

Dr. Katy Kamkar, Clinical Psychologist
