ExxonMobil Donates $50,000 for Earthquake Relief Efforts in Alaska

ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Dec. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- ExxonMobil announced that it is providing a $50,000 grant to the American Red Cross of Alaska to assist with relief efforts in communities impacted by a powerful earthquake on Nov. 30 and subsequent aftershocks.

"The courage and resilience of Alaskans in the face of the earthquake is truly humbling, and we at ExxonMobil are proud to offer our support to the Red Cross as it helps respond to those in need," said Darlene Gates, president of ExxonMobil Alaska. "The response efforts demonstrated by the Red Cross along with those of state and local agencies have been nothing short of exemplary, and we hope that our contribution will be of assistance."

ExxonMobil is one of the top three producers of oil and the largest holder of discovered gas resources on Alaska's North Slope. While the company's operations have not been impacted by the earthquakes, its Anchorage office has assumed flexible working hours and locations due to infrastructure damage along the major roadways and personnel have been encouraged to stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary.

"The safety and well-being of our staff, their families, and the communities in which we live and work is our first priority. As the situation begins to get back to normal, we remain ready to assist," added Gates.

ExxonMobil's contribution will support current response operations, with any remaining funds to support Red Cross capacity for responding to any future disaster.
