Michigan Competitive School Safety Grant Funds Awarded To Schools Installing The LockOut System

FOWLERVILLE, Mich., Nov. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Over 150 Michigan public and private schools have been awarded $25 million in grant money by the state to install safety systems on their campuses through the Michigan Competitive School Safety Grant. Over $2 million of these funds have already been allocated for installation of The LockOut SmartBoot System in more than a dozen school districts that will receive grant funding.

The LockOut System, developed in Michigan, pairs physical room entry deterrent devices with Bluetooth technology to create a comprehensive building safety system. The system is designed to keep students and staff safe in the event of a school lockdown.

"We're honored these districts have chosen to use this grant money to install the SmartBoot System," said LockOut Company CEO, Rob Couturier, "We've been working with the schools for quite a while helping them find and allocate funds, and this grant will really assist them financially."

The LockOut Company also had the opportunity to work with each school and learn more about their safety needs during the grant process. "We were happy to help," said Couturier, "We always openly state that we wish our system didn't have to exist, but it does, and it's important that schools have the the tools to keep their students and staff safe. This grant will go a long way toward making that happen. We want to thank the schools for working with us and trusting us to provide them with those tools, and we want to thank the state of Michigan for putting student safety at the forefront of their agenda."

The schools awarded funding that have chosen to use it for the LockOut System were not required to match the funding in any way, which was an important factor for Couturier, "The schools we work with often don't have a great deal of funding available, so we try to make the system as accessible as possible for them financially. With the installation of LED lights to reduce operating costs, financing programs, and now this grant, we're able to install the SmartBoot System with little to no cost for the schools, and that means a lot to us."

The LockOut Company is a leading provider of school safety systems in the United States and developer of The LockOut SmartBoot System. For more information contact us at [email protected] or visit lockoutusa.com.
