In Less Than Two Years, Ocean Cleanup Company, 4ocean Pulls Two Million Pounds of Trash from the Ocean and Coastlines

BOCA RATON, Fla., Nov. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- 4ocean (www.4ocean.com), an ocean cleanup company headquartered in Boca Raton, announced the removal of two million pounds of trash and plastic from the ocean and coastlines on November 5, 2018. This comes four months after pulling their first million pounds and less than two years after the company was founded.

4ocean has pulled its two millionth pound of trash from the ocean and coastlines on November 5, 2018. Launched in January 2017, 4ocean global cleanups are funded entirely through the sale of sustainability products with every item purchased supporting the removal of one pound of trash from the ocean. The company is building the first economy for ocean plastic and creating a cleaner, more sustainable future for the ocean.

"With over 16 billion pounds of plastic entering the world's oceans annually, 4ocean is committed to making a difference. Pulling plastic one pound at a time is our goal as we expand operations from the U.S. to Bali, Indonesia, Port-au-Prince, Haiti and other high impact areas," said 4ocean co-founder Andrew Cooper.

4ocean's cleanup efforts have been funded entirely by the sale of post-consumer recycled material bracelets and sustainability products. Each purchase removes a minimum of one pound of trash from the ocean and coastlines.

"Two million pounds of plastic pulled is just the beginning of a lifetime commitment to protecting the future for our environment," said 4ocean co-founder Alex Schulze. "Seven-days-a-week for 365 days-a-year, teams of 4ocean full-time captains and crews are dedicating to cleaning river mouths, oceans and coastlines, both above and below the water."

4ocean's business model is creating new, more sustainable economies around the world by paying fisherman to collect plastic and trash from the ocean instead of fish. It's changing the way people think about the problem of plastic pollution.

A for-profit business, 4ocean gives ocean plastic a monetary value while incentivize people all over the world to change their behavior.

4ocean (www.4ocean.com) is a sustainability brand started by two surfers with a vision of cleaning the ocean and coastlines, one pound at a time. Their global cleanups are funded entirely through the sale of their bracelets and sustainability products, where every item purchased funds the removal of one pound of trash from the ocean. By creating jobs, utilizing the latest technology, and raising awareness about the impact of trash in the ocean, the company is building the first economy for ocean plastic and creating a cleaner, more sustainable future for the ocean.
