Vita Health Products Issues Voluntary Recall of Pharmasave Brand Extra Strength Acetaminophen Tablets 500 mg, 200 count lot 8E3264KQS - UPC 0-58030-01822-9, Due to Wrap-Around Label Malfunction

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Oct. 25, 2018 /CNW/ -- Today Vita Health Products Inc. announced the voluntary Type I recall of Pharmasave brand Extra Strength Acetaminophen Tablets 500 mg, in 200 tablet count bottles with the lot number 8E3264KQS. This is due to an operational error by a vendor affecting the ability to open some wrap-around product labels in the lot. There is no issue with the efficacy or safety of the product in the bottles. However, the lot is being recalled as some consumers may be unable to access the French language warning statements located on sections of the label covered by the wrap-around.

Under normal circumstances, a release agent is applied to certain sections of the label by a label printer during the label production process. This allows the consumer to open and review the inside label text. In this case, some labels associated with the above product lot are defective as the release agent was not applied properly during production by the third-party vendor. This defect prevents the consumer from peeling open the wrap-around portion of the label covering French language warnings, storage statement, seal statement and child resistant closure statement.

Products from the following lot may be impacted by this recall:

Vita Health stands by the safety and efficacy of its products and is committed to resolving this issue quickly. Once the Company became aware of the issue, it immediately notified Health Canada and began the recall process. To date, Vita Health has not received any complaints or adverse events associated with this product lot.

Consumers who have this product lot in their possession with a label that does not peel back, should return it to the place of purchase or call the Vita Health Customer Contact Centre at 1-877-637-7557, Monday-Friday 9 am-5:30 pm ET for further instruction.
