Marken Opens Kit Assembly And Shipment Facility In Miami

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Oct. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Marken announced the opening of its newest kit-building facility in Miami, completing a global network of four locations, with integrator-based distribution to any investigator site in the world.

The new facility is co-located with its Miami branch office and home to its Latin America regional headquarters. The facility is flexible enough to produce kits of varying complexity and volume, which are then distributed to investigator sites throughout the United States, Canada and Latin America. The Miami location was chosen due to the frequency of commercial flights arriving from and departing to all major gateways in Latin America. It is also a convenient hub for UPS flights which fly to and from its Louisville, Kentucky WorldPort facility, enabling delivery to any US city within 24-48 hours.

Marken already operates dedicated kit production facilities in Hamburg, Shanghai, and Singapore.  Miami adds a fourth facility and completes the company's global reach. All four sites provide a one-stop solution for its clients, including procurement of all components, inventory management, kit assembly according to client's specifications, kit storage and distribution including Customs clearance. The distribution of kits from its sites are managed by Marken personnel, but can access the UPS network and its WorldShip system to deliver a high quality and cost-effective full service solution.

Gerit Offenhauser, Sr. Vice President at Marken, commented on the new facility, "With Miami as part of the Marken kit building footprint, we now have kit capacity in all regions and can supply any investigator site in the world using Marken's specialty service as well as full integrated UPS' WorldShip best in class integrator services. Our IT systems also interface with any of our client's manufacturing systems. We can now seamlessly combine the features of the Marken's hybrid service and our kit-building services."

The completion of the Miami kit facility is an integral part of the Marken's global depot network, increasing its global distribution hubs to 14 fully owned clinical trial distribution sites worldwide.
