Mercedes-Benz Canada reports record May results

TORONTO, June 3, 2018 /CNW/ - Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network are pleased to announce record breaking May sales results and for the second time in its history, it has retailed more than 5,000 units in one month. In fact, a total of 5,031 Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicles, vans and smart units were retailed. On a year-to-date basis, the luxury manufacturer has surpassed its 2017 results by selling 21,898 vehicles in the first five months of 2018.

A total of 4,357 passenger cars and SUVs were delivered, representing a 7.5% increase over 2017. This growth was fueled by the luxury light truck segment, which experienced monthly sales of 2,270 (+18.2%), bringing year-to-date sales to 10,184 units, up 18.9% over the same time last year. As in previous months, these results were supported by the popular GLE SUV and Coupe, which saw an increase of 32.6% compared to May 2017 and 41.4% year-to-date. Other strong performers included the E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet, which were up exponentially versus the same period last year.

The Mercedes-Benz Vans division also reported a record-setting May, with 636 units retailed for a 36.5% increase compared to May 2017. This monthly result was bolstered by strong sales of the Sprinter and Sprinter Cab Chassis, which saw growth of 48.0% and 1,000.0% respectively compared to the same time last year. Year-to-date, 2,809 vans have been sold (+6.1%).

The Mercedes-Benz Pre-Owned division recorded its best-ever May as well, with 1,720 units sold, up 2.7% compared with May 2017. This result was supported by 1,373 Certified Pre-Owned sales for the month while 5,655 units have been retailed so far in 2018.
