InventHelp Inventor Develops Power Factor Compensation and Power Quality Monitoring Device (LBT-8324)


PITTSBURGH, May 30, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- "I wanted to create a way for a residential user to power factor compensate certain types of appliances, lighting, or other AC powered electrical equipment having inductive components inside," said an inventor, from Lancaster, Pa., "so I invented the E S S - ENERGY SAVINGS SYSTEM. My design could be used in residential applications with older appliances, lighting or heating and cooling systems that do not have power factor compensating capacitors engineered into their original designs."

The patent-pending invention provides a power factor compensation and power quality monitoring device for residential service AC power applications where the electric utility measures consumption and provides for customer billing using Kilowatt-Hour metering methods. In doing so, it offers reactive load current sensing and automatic switching of power factor compensation capacitor(s) across the hot and neutral wires of the AC power system. As a result, it helps save energy costs when operating appliances and equipment.
