MCG Experts to Speak on Clinical Authorization Improvement at Ohio Hospital Association Annual Meeting

Industry leaders in healthcare tech will share successful strategies for automating authorizations in preparation for CMS Final Rule requirements

COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 30, 2024 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- MCG Health, part of the Hearst Health network and an industry leader in technology-enabled, evidence-based guidance, announces its Senior Product Manager for Interoperability Solutions, Daniel Cawood, will co-present with Senior Product Owner, Nick Engelhardt, at the Ohio Hospital Association's (OHA) 109th Annual Meeting & Education Summit happening June 10-12, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio.

"MCG has implemented our Collaborative Care technology with a major payer and three hospital systems across Ohio. The results show a powerful impact on hospital efficiency, reduced fax queues, and a significant decrease in authorization turnaround times." - Daniel Cawood, MCG Sr. Product Manager

Mr. Cawood and Mr. Engelhardt will present the session, "Improving Prior Authorization & the Preparing for the CMS Final Rule," on Tuesday, June 11, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. ET. MCG's interoperability experts will discuss the real-world impacts of new technology, MCG Indicia for Collaborative Care, in streamlining the clinical authorization processes with payers. The speakers will outline the challenges and important aspects of the implementation process, as well as the subsequent results of using the solution ? including time-savings and improved hospital productivity metrics.

Mr. Cawood said, "MCG has implemented our Collaborative Care technology with a major payer and three hospital systems across Ohio. The results show a powerful impact on hospital efficiency, reduced fax queues, and a significant decrease in authorization turnaround times."

Since the release of the CMS Interoperability and Prior Authorization Final Rule (CMS-0057-F) by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicare Services (CMS) in January 2024, providers and payers have been actively seeking new ways to streamline the clinical authorization workflow in time to meet the future compliance deadlines. MCG, widely seen as the current leader in evidence-based decision support technology, has been collaborating with payers and hospital systems across the nation for the past several years to automate these authorization processes.

MCG has achieved notable successes in authorization burden reduction with hospitals and health plans in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and the Pacific Northwest. MCG was recognized by KLAS in 2023 with a Points of Light Award (along with MultiCare Connected Care and Regence) for optimizing prior authorization workflows between payers and providers via new technology.
