Monster Energy congratulates Monster Army rider Toa Sasaki on taking third place in the Uprising Tokyo street skateboarding competition.

TOKYO, Japan, May 29, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The youth is getting restless! Monster Energy congratulates Monster Army rider Toa Sasaki on taking third place in the Uprising Tokyo street skateboarding competition. In the heated final in front of a high-energy crowd inside Ariake Arena, the 16-year-old from Mie, Japan, rose to the podium to claim $4,000 in prize money amid an elite field.

From May 25-28, the Uprising Tokyo pro and amateur street contest brought some of the world's best riders to Tokyo for the biggest skate event in Asia. The roster of competitors included Olympic gold medalist and X Games medal winners such as Monster Energy's Ishod Wair, Aori Nishimura, and Daiki Ikeda.

For a true 'street' feel, the CA Skateparks-designed course featured replicas of the iconic Hollywood High 12-stair rail and Clipper ledge. The final eight riders each received three one-minute runs to post their top scores.

In his highest-scoring run, Sasaki put together bigflip frontside boardslide the 12-stair rail, backside ollie to tail on the quarterpipe platform, 360 kickflip the kicker, bigspin frontside boardslide fakie the flat rail, frontside feeble grind the flat rail, backside nosegrind the quarterpipe, crooked grind the ledge, frontside 180 to fakie 50-50 the gap ledge, huge backside 360 ollie all the way to flat off the large kicker, frontside blunt the quarterpipe, and backside noseblunt slide the tall hubba for 85.12 points and a strong third-place finish.

In his third run of the final, Sasaki stoked the crowd with a technical nollie heelflip to frontside boardslide the 12-stair rail. Watch out for this kid!
