Missing History: American Descendants of Slaves Premiere Their Graphic Novel Spotlighting Black Deputy U.S. Marshal Bass Reeves

New BIPOC Graphic Novel BASS REEVES WEST OF HELL Corrects Missing History of Slave-Turned Deputy U.S. Marshal

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 4, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Bass Reeves was a former slave and the first black deputy U.S. Marshall west of the Mississippi River, yet textbooks have done little to tell the missing history of America's most prodigious, legendary lawman, who had more than 3,000 arrests, including white people, during the era of Jim Crow Laws. American Descendant of Slaves (ADOS) multi-hyphenate creator Kevin Grevioux (King of Killers/Underworld/I, Frankenstein), ADOS series artist David Williams, and publisher Allegiance Arts & Entertainment (AAE) want to change that.

"We're honored to take this journey with Kevin and David, and give Bass Reeves his just due," declared Mitch Breitweiser, AAE co-founder and CEO. The six-episode series, written by Grevioux and illustrated by Williams, is being crowdfunded on Indiegogo as the 136-page graphic novel, BASS REEVES: WEST OF HELL.

The buzz circulating the comic is palpable, given the number of BIPOC-created productions soon to hit theaters and streaming outlets. Actor Isaiah Washington, who plays Bass in his production of Corsicana, recently tweeted the BASS REEVES comics Grevioux gifted to him inspired his portrayal of the legendary lawman. The extended Indiegogo campaign has raised more than $17k to date. To learn more, please visit usmarshalbassreeves.com.
