ComEd Extends Deadline for Nonprofits to Apply for $1.8 Million in Grants to Support Climate-Friendly Programs

To help nonprofit organizations to develop and administer climate-friendly and complementary programs that support northern Illinois families and businesses, ComEd today extended the deadline for applications for its $1.8 million Climate Friendly Grant Assistance program to Friday, Aug. 19, 2022.

ComEd's Climate Friendly Grant Assistance program will award grants up to $450,000 each to as many as four nonprofit organizations so that they can offer clean energy-focused assistance programs to limited-income customers in communities the energy company serves. Eligible nonprofit candidates must be 501(c)(3) certified, serve the northern Illinois ComEd service territory, and support diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.

"We understand the constraints on many nonprofits as they serve and respond to the increasing needs brought on by the pandemic, economy and other world events," said Melissa Washington, senior vice president of customer operations and chief customer officer, ComEd. "As a long-time supporter of the northern Illinois community, ComEd will continue to respond to the unique needs of nonprofits and support their work to lift up both families and local businesses and ensure everyone shares in the benefits of clean energy."

Interested nonprofits can access the complete grant guidelines, request for proposal and application at ComEd.com/NonProfitGrant. Applications are being accepted through 5 p.m. CT Aug. 19, 2022, and can be submitted:
