Lightbeam Clients Improve Quality and Compliance with Annual Wellness Visits, Resulting in Completion Rates Double Industry Average

Lightbeam Health Solutions, the leader in end-to-end population health management solutions and services, today announced the results of a study on annual wellness visits (AWVs). In 2021, Lightbeam clients averaged a nearly 50% AWV completion rate, more than double the industry average of 24%, empowering improvement in quality and compliance, thus improving patient quality of life. For clients enrolled in the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP), this focus on AWV completion also resulted in $50.8 million in fee-for-service reimbursements.

An AWV is one of the best ways for providers to assess patient risk and administer preventive screenings for high-cost chronic conditions such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes, resulting in significant reductions in total healthcare costs. Lightbeam's population health solutions help reduce a significant amount of the administrative burden that clients experience when planning, scheduling, and performing AWVs. When properly utilized, Lightbeam clients see substantial increases in revenue from reimbursements from AWVs, helping them increase their bottom line.

In 2021, Lightbeam clients completed hundreds of thousands of annual wellness visits, with 92% achieving completion rates higher than the industry average. Lightbeam understands the impact that AWVs can have on both patient and provider; for that reason, Lightbeam supports its clients in implementing an AWV program. AWVs allow providers to capture hierarchical condition category (HCC) codes, close care gaps, set and reach benchmarks, and maintain patient-provider relationships. Evaluating patients' physical and mental health while providing them with the necessary preventative services to avert the onset of diseases increases the patient's quality of life.

"We are delighted that our clients are seeing such amazing results in their AWV initiatives," said Jessica Scruton, BSN, RN, CCM-R, VP of Clinical Transformation at Lightbeam. "Not only does this create positive health outcomes in the future for our clients' patients, but it sets a best practices standard within the industry that we hope others will follow. AWVs are so important and at Lightbeam we are proud to be a part of helping our clients improve patient lives."
