Indeed Names Svenja Gudell as Chief Economist

Indeed, the world's number one job site, announced Svenja Gudell, PhD as Chief Economist. Gudell will lead the Indeed Hiring Lab, an international team of economists who drive the global labor market conversation through timely research using Indeed's proprietary data and publicly available sources.

Gudell comes to Indeed from Zillow, where she worked for ten years, most recently as the Chief Economist. Prior to that, she worked on economic and strategic consulting for Analysis Group and was an economist in the research group of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association for Business Economics. She holds a PhD in finance, a master's degree in business administration, and a BA in economics from the University of Rochester, as well as a master's degree in economics from New York University.

"We are thrilled to welcome Svenja to Indeed. The Indeed Hiring Lab is one of the leading sources of insights on labor market trends in the world," said Jessica Jensen, Chief Marketing Officer of Indeed. "We believe Svenja will take the team to the next level, and be an integral part of Indeed's mission of helping people get jobs, in addition to advising employers and policymakers on global labor market trends."

"I am incredibly excited to lead the Indeed Hiring Lab," said Gudell. "The labor market is a fundamental building block to the larger economy, and the last two years have shown the importance of carefully analyzing and understanding it. Together with this group of talented researchers, I know we can expand the reach and impact of Indeed's data and labor market analysis."

Gudell succeeds Jed Kolko, PhD who has been nominated for Under Secretary of Commerce for Economic Affairs at the Department of Commerce. Kolko has led the Indeed Hiring Lab since 2016.
