Sun Capital Affiliate Completes Sale of AMES Taping Tools

Sun Capital Partners, Inc. ("Sun Capital"), a leading private investment firm focused on defensible businesses in growing markets with tangible performance improvement opportunities, today announced that its affiliate has completed the sale of AMES Taping Tools Holding LLC ("AMES"). AMES is the nation's foremost provider of automatic taping and finishing ("ATF") tools and related products to the professional drywall finishing industry. Terms of the private transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1939, AMES invented ATF tool technology and continues to leverage its industry leadership to improve the professional drywall contractor's speed and productivity. With a network of approximately 100 company stores and franchised locations throughout the United States and Canada, AMES supports residential and commercial interior finishing contractors with the industry's largest tool rental operation. AMES services customers through its multichannel distribution model, which includes AMES Stores, Dealer Distribution and All-Wall® E-Commerce Platform.

"Our investment in AMES Taping Tools demonstrates Sun Capital's ability to significantly accelerate the growth of a market-leading company in the building products sector," said Marc Leder, Co-CEO of Sun Capital. "A strong match for Sun Capital culturally from the beginning, we are pleased to see that AMES not only grew revenues, but also maximized operational efficiencies and reduced procurement costs during our work together."

"Our partnership with Sun Capital allowed us to accelerate growth at AMES and facilitated our ability to capitalize on market opportunities," said Jay Davisson, President and CEO of AMES. "AMES is now strongly positioned to continue building on our success and ready for the next phase of growth."

"Sun Capital is proud of how we applied our building products experience and the Sun Transformation System to strengthen AMES' product offering and geographic presence," added Jordan Wadsworth, Managing Director at Sun Capital.

In addition to AMES, Sun Capital's recent building products transactions include the sale of Arrow Tru-Line, the leading independent U.S. provider of sectional overhead garage door components, and the acquisition of Architectural Surfaces Group, a leading importer and distributor of natural stone, engineered stone and tile for residential and commercial applications used in countertops, backsplashes and other related applications.
