Stanley Cohen, M.D. Receives Top Honor From the American College of Rheumatology


Rheumatology Associates is proud to announce that Dr. Stanley Cohen will be awarded the American College of Rheumatology's (ACR) Presidential Gold Medal during ACR Convergence, the ACR's annual meeting November 3-9. The award reflects his outstanding contributions to the advancement of rheumatology. The Presidential Gold Medal is the highest award that the ACR can bestow; it is awarded in recognition of outstanding achievements in rheumatology over an entire career. Established by the past presidents of the ACR, candidates have made important contributions in multiple areas such as clinical medicine, research, education, or administration. Funding support for this award of distinction is provided by the Rheumatology Research Foundation. The ACR recognizes leading researchers, clinicians, mentors, and other professionals exhibiting superior commitment to the advancement of the field of rheumatology with the Awards of Distinction honors.

"It's an honor to receive this award and be recognized for my commitment to advancing the health of patients with rheumatic diseases," said Dr. Cohen. "I am truly humbled to be recognized by the ACR as a distinguished rheumatologist." Dr. Cohen has been recognized also in D Magazine Best Doctors in Dallas and Texas Super Doctors.

Dr. Stanley Cohen, a board-certified rheumatologist and internist, joined Rheumatology Associates in 1975. He is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Co-Director of the Division of Rheumatology at Presbyterian Hospital, Dallas. He also is Co-Medical Director of Metroplex Clinical Research Center. He is a past president of the American College of Rheumatology and was honored in 2016 with the designation of Master by the American College of Rheumatology. Dr. Cohen completed a degree in biology from the University of Virginia and received his Doctor of Medicine with honors, from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. He completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Parkland Memorial Hospital, Dallas, Texas, and a fellowship in Rheumatology at UT Southwestern/St. Paul University Hospital.
