Chromatic Black Launches National "Keep Black Love Alive" Campaign with a Pop-Up Celebration at Washington Park with Morehouse and Spelman College Alumni

Chromatic Black launches "Keep Black Love Alive" - a national storytelling and story-catching campaign aimed at addressing the consequences of truth decay. The campaign has three goals: tailor messages, address communities' root causes of hesitancy, boost confidence in the safety and effectiveness of the vaccines, combat complacency about the pandemic, and increase the convenience of getting vaccinated in the New South. Campaign partners include Public Health Institute, Morehouse School of Medicine, Partners for Southern Equity, CEO Swag and RISE.

Against the backdrop of cancelled Morehouse and Spelman College homecoming activities due to the surge in coronavirus infections, the Keep Black Love Alive campaign kicks off tomorrow, Saturday, October 16, from 9 AM to 6 PM ET at Washington Park in Atlanta, Georgia.

Organizer George Brandy, Morehouse Alumnae, Founder of CEO Swag Foundation, hopes to transmute the energy of anxiety, fear and disappointment into something meaningful. He will be hosting WE OWTSIDE, a park gathering where folks will have access to a pop-up vaccination clinic, the proverbial DJ, paint by art, good food and a softball game between the alumni of Omega Psi Phi and Kappa Alpha Psi.

"As our black community struggles to find some normalcy during the challenges of the pandemic recovery, great hearts and minds from HBCUs like Spelman and Morehouse and foundations like CEO Swag have an opportunity to uplift and educate people on the accurate data regarding vaccinations," notes Bandy.

The Washington Park pop-up clinic kicks off Chromatic Black's "Keep Black Love Alive" campaign. In an effort to combat misinformation in vaccine-hesitant communities throughout the New South, Chromatic Black will be helping more than 50 host organizations to set up vaccination clinics in convenient, trusted locations through December 31, 2021.

Organizations will work hand-in-hand with the Chromatic Black team to organize vaccine administration with pharmacy partners such as CVS Pharmacy, Rite Aid Pharmacy, Walgreens Pharmacy, Kroger, HealthMart Pharmacy and Costco Wholesale. Chromatic Black will provide a $1,000 partner grant and will assist in providing hyper-local marketing to engage and educate the community. Chromatic Black leaders Abeni Bloodworth, Angela Harmon and David Mitchell are spearheading this initiative.

"We have an outstanding opportunity, through engaging the alumni of these two historic black colleges, to make a tremendous impact in the African American community. With attendees coming from around the country, we are excited to have the brothers of The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Morehouse College, supporting this movement to help the African American community get fully vaccinated," says Mitchell.
