Invitation to the Media - LEMOYNE - Offside

Be the first to experience Lemoyne fever in blue, white, and red

QUÉBEC, Oct. 14, 2021 /CNW/ - Celebrate Québec art by visiting the major exhibition devoted to the unclassifiable Serge Lemoyne (1941-1998), a highly influential figure in Québec's recent art history and in subsequent decades.

A colourful encounter awaits you with an artist who shook the Québec art scene and contributed significantly to a fundamental reappraisal in the 1960s of the language of the visual arts in an effervescent Québec.

Serge Lemoyne was an intense, avant-gardist, multidisciplinary artist before his time who instigated the first happenings. He was also one of the first Québec artists to lay the foundations of artistic practice that was more liberating than intellectual, venture into the pop universe, and explore participatory art and collective creation.

The exhibition is organized as a thematic circuit that presents an outstanding summary of the artist's at once playful and powerful output. It assembles near 200 works and a hundred archives, including the emblematic Blue, white, red hockey-themed series.

Lemoyne's works encapsulate with unique vibrancy the words liberty, creativity, dissidence, and subversion. Take part in this human, unifying adventure focused on identity.
