Bamboo Health Applauds Its Accountable Care Organization Partners for Generating Over $1 Billion in The Medicare Shared Savings Program

Bamboo Health, formerly Appriss Health and PatientPing, a healthcare technology solutions company focused on fostering care collaboration and providing information and actionable insights across the entire continuum of care, announced its national network of Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) generated over $1 billion in total shared savings in 2020 under the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP). Bamboo Health's ACO partners succeed under value-based care programs like the MSSP by utilizing the Pings solution, which provides real-time visibility into patient admission, discharge, and transfer (ADT) care events. This enables ACOs to identify high-utilizers, monitor post-acute length-of-stay, and apply timely interventions to reduce emergency department to inpatient conversions.

Bamboo Health's nationwide ACO network includes thousands of healthcare providers that participate in the MSSP and leverage the Pings solution to help them adhere to quality metrics and drive valuable patient care initiatives. This year, Bamboo Health's MSSP ACO provider network more than doubled their shared savings from 2019 and Bamboo Health providers represented six of the top 10 ACOs with the most shared savings. The healthcare institutions work with Bamboo Health to meet their goals of improving care quality, reducing total cost of care, minimizing post-acute spending, and emergency department visits for their patient populations.

"Lack of timely notifications of our patients being in emergency departments and admitted to or discharged from hospitals has long been a problem for our work in population health. This is of increasing concern as we take on additional risk and the payers incentivize transitions of care," explains Dr. Jim Sams, CEO, Privia Medical Group of Georgia. "Our partnership with Bamboo Health is giving us a real-time picture of the care our patients receive outside of our practices and will help us build the workflows needed to successfully manage care and cost for the patients we serve."

"As an organization, Bamboo Health is committed to giving our ACO partners actionable insights to improve whole person care through our Pings solution's patient admission, discharge, and transfer data. Through this data, we can help improve management of both acute and post-acute lengths of stay, prevent hospital readmissions, and support value-based care initiatives," said Rob Cohen, president and general manager of Bamboo Health. "We're proud of our ACO partners for their continued efforts to improve patient health outcomes and lower the cost of care through the Medicare Shared Savings Program's innovative payment model for well-coordinated care and healthcare service delivery."

As Medicare's largest alternative payment model, the National Association of ACOs shared the 2020 data detailing that the MSSP served 10.6 million seniors, collectively saving Medicare $4.1 billion last year, and $1.9 billion after accounting for shared savings payments. Through Bamboo Health's actionable insights across the entire continuum of care, ACOs and community care providers are able to tap into patient ADT information to improve care quality by supporting safe care transitions and greater visibility into post-discharge referral patterns.
